Prof McCollum is fellowship trained in Foot and Ankle surgery and Trauma Orthopaedic surgery. He worked under Mr James Calder in the United Kingdom and Dr Mark Myerson in Baltimore, USA. during his fellowships. He has been practicing Orthopaedic surgery since 2011 and Foot and Ankle surgery since 2013. He runs the Groote Schuur foot and ankle service and is a member of staff at the University of Cape Town (Senior Lecturer)
